Your skin is an organ that is inextricably connected to your body which means you can’t address skin concerns without considering the whole body. The thing is, bodies vary from person to person, so even if you wanted to listen to your body and address your skin holistically, it comes down to this fundamental question:
What does my body want? Maybe more importantly, what does it NOT want?
Although we at Sapien would love to give you a simple breakdown of all of your bodies wants and needs, we can only give you a loose template and encourage our clients to pay attention to the signals their body sends and to listen closely and more importantly, kindly. Trust me when I say, warring with your body is not the path to health.
The good news is that when it comes to your skin and body’s health, it takes a holistic approach to achieve results that are long lasting, so it’s always worth it to start the conversation with your skin and body in order to lay down the foundation for healthy skin by living a healthy lifestyle. Makes sense, right?
And yes, this means exactly what you think it does:
- Stress management
- Sun exposure
- Sunscreen habits
When you really turn your attention to this, you’ll find that you already know what your body wants, but you’ve grown accustomed to ignoring it. Is it convenience? Is it time management? Is it fear of what you’ll learn? Explore that and get curious.
Trust me, I know that all of this can feel overwhelming at first if you’ve gotten used to muffling the signals that your body is trying to send you. It’s not uncommon to write off a headache, upset stomach, feeling fatigued, having regular breakouts, rashy skin, etc. Can you remember a time when you got curious about these inconveniences?
