  • Stop the Actives: Discontinue Retinol, Tretinoin, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid for 7 days prior. Your skin needs to be calm and hydrated.

  • No Sun: You cannot have a sunburn or active tan. Avoid direct sun exposure for 4 weeks prior.

  • Viral Prep: If you have a history of cold sores, let us know. The heat can trigger a flare-up, so we will prescribe a prophylactic antiviral.

  • Come Clean: Arrive with a clean face. We will numb you in-office if we are doing a deeper setting.

Cool Peel Treatment
  • Numbing: For lighter “CoolPeels,” numbing isn’t always necessary, but for deeper “Duo” sessions, we apply a topical numbing cream for 30–45 minutes.

  • The Sensation: You will feel a warm, prickly sensation, like static electricity on your skin. It is generally very tolerable.

  • Duration: The laser portion is fast—usually 15–20 minutes for a full face.

  • Immediate Look: You will leave looking red, similar to a sunburn. Your skin may feel tight and warm for a few hours.

  • Days 1–2 (The Redness): You will look red (like a sunburn) and feel dry.

  • Days 3–5 (The Sandpaper): This is the signature CoolPeel phase. Your skin will feel rough, like sandpaper, as the old layers dehydrate and prepare to slough off.

  • The Downtime: Listed as 3 to 7 days depending on intensity. Lighter peels heal in 3; deeper Duo treatments may take the full week.

  • Appearance: Unlike heavy lasers, you won’t have oozing or scary peeling sheets—just a dry, flaky roughness that buffs away.

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Your skin will be thirsty. Use a bland, gentle moisturizer (like the one we recommend) as often as needed.

  • No Exfoliating: Do not scrub the “sandpaper” skin. Let it shed naturally while you wash your face gently.

  • Sun Protection: This is non-negotiable. Your fresh skin is extremely vulnerable to UV damage. Wear SPF 30+ and a hat.

  • Makeup: You can wear mineral makeup after 24–48 hours, which easily covers the residual pinkness.

Cool Peel Treatment CO2 laser technology is a revolutionary way to achieve beautiful skin without the downtime and discomfort of traditional resurfacing lasers. It works by using a patented fractional scanning technique that delivers tiny laser spots, known as “dots”, into the layers of your skin to create controlled damage in order to target wrinkles, acne scars and other signs of aging. The dots cause micro-injuries which stimulates your body’s natural healing response. This increases collagen production leading to smoother and younger looking skin with improved texture and tone. Additionally, CoolPeel helps reduce pore size and even out pigmentation for an overall brighter complexion.

A CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser is an ablative laser that delivers intense infrared light to the outer layers of the skin. It is used to remove the visible signs of sun damage, aging, scars, wrinkles, and benign skin growths like moles and skin tags. CO2 laser treatment is a popular skin resurfacing procedure because it involves minimal discomfort, quick recovery, and significant improvement in skin quality without the risks of surgery.

CoolPeel is a revolutionary next-generation CO2 Laser technology that offers all the benefits of traditional CO2 lasers without any downtime. A CoolPeel treatment is a non-invasive, non-surgical office procedure that targets the superficial layer of skin. It is performed to reduces sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, rosacea, large pores, and blemishes to reveal smoother, healthier, younger-looking skin with a more even tone and texture.

CO2 lasers work by causing damage or trauma to the skin. This means that they remove the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and heat up the middle layer (dermis). This stimulates collagen production in the dermis. As the epidermis heals and grows back, there is an appearance of smoother, clearer, tighter skin. However, because the top layer of skin is removed, CO2 laser treatment usually requires about a week for recovery time, but not anymore.

Enter the Tetra CO2 Laser (aka Deka Smart Dot), the most sophisticated and advanced laser on the market today that makes CoolPeel treatments possible. By using a quick burst of light to administer high levels of energy to your skin while still being able to control the overall thermal injury to the skin, you can enjoy the results of an aggressive laser peel without the downtime and side effects. CoolPeel’s spray pattern significantly reduces treatment time to merely 10 minutes, compared to the 1-2 hours required for traditional CO2 lasers. This means more comfort, less downtime, and easier to fit into your busy schedule with all the benefits of traditional C02 peels!

You are a good candidate for a CoolPeel laser treatment if you are looking to reduces the appearance of fine lines and sun damage, minimize pores and improves skin texture. Your skin will look healthier and younger.

The best way to determine if the CoolPeel procedure is right for you is to schedule a free consultation with our licensed aesthetic provider. They will assess your skin type, medical history and desired results before determining if this treatment is right for you. Generally, people with light skin are better candidates for C02.

CO2 treatments are often accompanied by considerable downtime and risk while damaged skin heals. While many advances have been made to improve the side effects of CO2 treatments, ONLY your Coolpeel treatment will deliver a fractional ablative treatment without the downtime. There is minimal risk of hyperpigmentation, demarcation or induced infection.

The cool peel process typically takes around 5-15 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. You should expect to be a little red, as if you have a sunburn, for a day, or two, but nothing should prevent you from returning to your normal daily activities. Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep the skin hydrated.

Most people need 3-5 sessions about 4-6 weeks apart. Please schedule a consultation for a quote.

CoolPeel is a next-generation fractional CO2 laser. Traditional CO2 lasers aggressively ablate (remove) the entire top layer of skin, requiring weeks of painful recovery. CoolPeel bypasses this by using a patented, short-pulse fractional scanning technique. It delivers intense thermal energy into the superficial layers of the skin—creating controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen—without causing sustained thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. It is a highly precise modality we use to correct fine lines, sun damage, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture.

True cellular transformation requires compounding effort. While a single session will yield a noticeable glow, structural remodeling requires a series. We typically architect a clinical protocol of 3 to 5 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

While the aesthetics industry frequently markets CoolPeel as a “zero downtime” miracle, we believe in radical transparency: you should expect 3 to 7 days of what we call “social downtime.”

Here is the biological reality of your recovery:

  • Days 1–2: You will look and feel like you have a mild-to-moderate sunburn. Your skin will be red and warm.

  • Days 3–7: Your skin will feel tight, dry, and have a “sandpaper” texture as the micro-injuries heal and the dead skin naturally sloughs off.

You are physically capable of returning to your daily routine immediately, but you will not want to schedule a wedding, photoshoot, or major social event during this window. Furthermore, because Seattle’s climate shifts drastically, your post-care recovery protocol will be seasonally recalibrated to ensure your skin barrier is properly supported, whether it’s the dead of winter or mid-summer.
