Tone Shift

BBL + CoolPeel

Why choose between fixing the color or fixing the texture when you can do both? The Tone Shift is our signature “stack” that completely transforms the canvas of your skin. We start with BBL Hero to pull out the red and brown pigment (sun damage, rosacea, age spots), creating a clear base. Then, we immediately follow up with a CoolPeel CO2 to resurface the top layer, tightening pores and smoothing fine lines. It is the ultimate one-two punch for aging: BBL cleans the clutter; CoolPeel polishes the surface.

  • The “No Sun” Rule: This is non-negotiable. We cannot treat tanned skin with either BBL or CO2. You must be at your natural skin tone. Avoid sun/tanning beds for 4 weeks prior.

  • Pause Actives: Stop Retin-A, Retinol, and exfoliating acids 1 week before. We are about to provide a major exfoliation; we don’t want your skin already sensitized.

  • Cold Sores: If you have a history of cold sores, start your antiviral medication 24 hours before.

  • Numbing: Please arrive 45 minutes early for numbing. We treat deeply, and you will want the anesthesia.

  • Part 1: The Light (BBL): We start with the BBL. You will see bright flashes of light and feel a “rubber band snap” sensation as we target redness and sun spots.

  • Part 2: The Resurfacing (CoolPeel): After cleaning the skin, we switch to the CO2 laser. This feels like a “prickly heat” or spicy static sensation moving across your face.

  • The Cooling: We use a cold air chiller (Zimmer) throughout the treatment to keep the heat manageable.

  • Day 1 (The Heat): You will look and feel like you have a bad sunburn for 12–24 hours. Ice packs and cool air are your friends.

  • Day 2–3 (The Bronze): Your skin will turn a bronzed, tan color and feel rough like sandpaper. This is the damaged skin separating from the healthy skin underneath.

  • Day 4–5 (The Peel): The sandpaper texture will slough off (micro-peel), revealing baby-soft, bright skin underneath.

  • Hands Off: Do not pick or scrub the sandpaper skin. Let it fall off naturally. Picking leads to scarring.

  • Hydrate: Your skin will be thirsty. Apply the recommended post-procedure cream or Aquaphor liberally.

  • Vinegar Soaks: If you feel very hot or tight, we may recommend doing a distilled white vinegar and water soak (1 tsp vinegar : 1 cup water) to calm the pH.

  • Sun Protection: You have no natural protection right now. Stay indoors or wear a hat. SPF 50+ is mandatory once the heat dissipates.

Efficiency. BBL targets the “visual noise” (reds and browns), while CoolPeel targets the “structural noise” (wrinkles and pores). By doing them together, you get a synergistic effect that makes you look filtered in real life, with only one recovery period instead of two separate ones.

Surprisingly, no. The recovery is dictated by the CoolPeel (the sandpaper feel). Adding the BBL beforehand doesn’t really add more downtime; it just makes the redness a bit more intense on Day 1.

Yes! The “Tone Shift” is incredible for the décolleté (chest) where we often have the most sun damage. However, the skin on the body heals slower than the face, so expect the “sandpaper” phase to last closer to 2 weeks on the chest.

It is “spicy.” The BBL is quick snaps; the CoolPeel is building heat. We numb you thoroughly, and most clients rate it a 4 or 5 out of 10. It is uncomfortable but very quick.

This is generally not for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV-VI) due to the risk of hyperpigmentation from the heat. For those skin tones, we recommend Moxi or Microneedling instead.

We recommend waiting 24–48 hours until the heat is completely gone and the micro-channels are closed. After that, mineral makeup is fine to cover the redness/bronzing.
