  • Plan Your Downtime: You will need 5–7 days of social downtime. Do not book this before a big event, wedding, or photo shoot.

  • Stop Actives: Discontinue Retin-A, Retinols, and exfoliating acids 7 days prior.

  • No Sun: We cannot treat tanned or sunburned skin. Serious sun avoidance is required for 4 weeks prior.

  • Cold Sore Prevention: If you have ever had a cold sore, let us know. We will prescribe an antiviral to take before treatment to prevent a flare-up triggered by the heat.

  • Numbing is Key: Unlike our lighter lasers, we apply a strong topical numbing cream for 45–60 minutes before we start to ensure you are comfortable.

  • The Sensation: You will feel heat and a “prickling” sensation. We use a specialized cooling fan (Zimmer) to blow cold air on your skin throughout the entire session.

  • Duration: The actual laser time is about 20–30 minutes for a full face.

  • Immediate Aftermath: You will leave looking and feeling like you have a deep sunburn. Your skin may feel tight and throbbing for the first few hours.

  • Days 1–2 (The Swell): Swelling is normal and expected, especially around the eyes. Your skin will look red and may have a grid-like pattern.

  • Days 3–5 (The Peel): Your skin will darken (bronzing) and begin to flake or peel off. It may look rough or dry—this is the old skin shedding.

  • Social Downtime: Most clients feel comfortable wearing makeup and returning to public activities by Day 5 or 6, though mild pinkness can last a few weeks.

  • Keep it Moist: Dry healing is not the goal here. You must keep your skin covered in the recommended ointment (like Aquaphor or a specific post-care balm) to prevent scabbing.

  • No Picking: We cannot stress this enough. Picking at the flakes can cause scarring. Let the shower steam help them slough off naturally.

  • Sun Block: Your new skin is baby-fresh. Direct sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation. Hats and SPF are your best friends for the next month.

  • Sleep Elevated: Sleeping with an extra pillow for the first 2 nights helps reduce swelling.

FAQ

Laser resurfacing facial is a procedure that uses targeted laser energy to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores, and acne scars on the face. During the process, a handheld device is used to deliver pulses of laser energy to specific areas of the skin. These laser pulses work to gently remove damaged outer layers of skin in order to reveal smoother, healthier-looking skin underneath.

Some of the main benefits of laser resurfacing facial include improved texture and smoothness of the skin, reduced signs of aging and sun damage, and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, many people also find that their pores appear smaller after undergoing this treatment. Furthermore, since results from laser resurfacing are typically long-lasting, this procedure can provide a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance that lasts for many years to come.

Laser resurfacing may be right for you if you are looking to improve the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores, or acne scars on your face. However, it is important to note that this treatment is not suitable for everyone, and it may not be appropriate for those with certain medical conditions or skin sensitivities. As such, it is recommended that you consult with your dermatologist or skincare professional to determine whether laser resurfacing is the best option for addressing your specific concerns.

While laser resurfacing is generally a safe and effective procedure, it may cause some side effects, such as redness, mild swelling, and temporary discomfort. Those prone to keloid scars are not a good candidate.

The laser resurfacing process typically takes around 60 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. After the treatment is completed, you may need to take a few days off from work or other activities to allow your skin to heal properly. It is important to follow your estheticians instructions carefully during this time in order to minimize any potential side effects and optimize the results of your procedure.

Most people need 3-6 sessions about 4-6 weeks apart. Please schedule a consultation for a quote.
