DERMAPLANE FACIAL in Seattle

This is the secret to “glass skin.” Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation method that uses a sterile surgical scalpel to gently shave off the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz). By removing this barrier, your products absorb significantly deeper, and makeup glides on flawlessly. In our Seattle studio, we pair this exfoliation with a custom enzyme mask and calming serums to leave your skin brighter and smoother than you thought possible.

  • Stop Retinols: Discontinue Retin-A, Retinol, or harsh scrubs for 5 days prior. Your skin needs to be intact before we exfoliate.

  • Active Acne: We cannot dermaplane over active, inflamed acne cysts or open wounds. If you are having a breakout, please reschedule or switch to an Acne Facial.

  • No Sunburn: We cannot treat sunburned or peeling skin.

  • The Cleanse: Double cleanse to remove all oils.

  • The Blade: We use a sterile surgical blade at a 45-degree angle. You will feel a gentle “scraping” sensation, similar to a cat’s tongue, but it is completely painless.

  • The Enzyme: After the fuzz is gone, we apply a gentle enzyme mask to dissolve any remaining dead cells.

  • The Finish: We finish with cooling serums and SPF.

  • Baby Soft: Your skin will feel impossibly smooth immediately.

  • Brightening: Removing the dead skin and hair instantly brightens your complexion.

  • Sensitivity: You might feel slightly “breezy” or sensitive to products for 24 hours since the barrier is so fresh.

  • No Sweat: Avoid heavy sweating or saunas for 24 hours. Sweat can irritate the freshly exfoliated follicles.

  • Makeup: We recommend waiting until the next day to apply heavy makeup, but if you must, use clean brushes.

  • SPF: Your dead skin layer (your natural sun protection) is gone. You MUST wear SPF 50+ to prevent sun damage.

  • Actives: Wait 3 days before using Retinol, Vitamin C, or exfoliating acids.

FAQ

No. It is surprisingly relaxing. Most clients find the rhythmic motion soothing. There is no pain involved.

If you have active, inflamed pustules or cysts, we cannot dermaplane those specific areas (as the blade would slice them open). If you have clear skin with just a few spots, we can work around them, but generally, this is best for non-acneic skin.

We recommend every 4–6 weeks. This aligns with your skin’s natural cell turnover cycle and the hair growth cycle.

Yes, and it’s a power move. Dermaplaning removes the barrier so the peel can penetrate deeper. However, we typically use a milder peel (like a “Lunchtime Peel”) when combining them to avoid over-stripping the skin.

Actually, the opposite happens! Once the peach fuzz is gone, foundation sits directly on smooth skin rather than getting caught in the hair. You will use less product and look more airbrushed.
